THE INSTITUTE OF THE UNEXPECTED | feeling the city

#3: feeling the city – Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstad (BodyCartography Project). Saturday 15th June, 13:00 – 16:00
Feeling the city is the third workshop in the series of The Institute of the Unexpected. In this workshop, Olive and Otto invite participants to enter their animal-like appetites and childlike curiosities for physical investigation through engagement with their sensorial bodies. They will create playful one-on-one performances for each other as we move through the city. Exploring group games and choreographies which transform our perception of the everyday; both the spaces we inhabit and the behavior we practice.

Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstad have been collaborating as BodyCartography Project since 1998. The mission of BodyCartography Project is to engage with the vital materiality of our bodies to create live performance that facilitates a re-enchantment of embodiment, relationship, and presence. They create dance in urban, domestic, wild, and social landscapes. Their work is rooted in experimental, somatic, and socially engaged practices. They make performances, installations, films, workshops, talks, festivals, and other curatorial projects. Olive and Otto’s duo-practice range from intimate interventions in public space, large community site works, installations for the museum, to complex works for the stage. Movement research, somatic and improvisational practice inform the ground of their dance-making and teaching practice.
